Locals may refer to this as the old "Dad's Camp" property. This property, includes 3 parcels with frontage on the Pacific Ocean, and Klamath River. The property has an interesting past. Known as Dad's Camp, the property was run by the Williams family of Klamath. They invited visitors to the Mouth of the Klamath for sport. Though Dad's Camp stopped providing service in about 1988, this property provided shorecaster fishing and incredible salmon, steelhead, perch and smelt fishing in its day. The site was popular to the point that people would turn away in frustration rather than having to fight through the crowds.

In addition, highly charished skiffs were built on the property. Dozens of the skiffs were built of redwood at Dad's Camp. They were used as a rental fleet for fishing out of Dad's Camp. Apparently, Terry Huff, a boat builder in Orick, still has fishermen finding their way to his shop to get assistance with maintenance on these charished boats.

To learn a bit about the history of Dad's Camp, read the Sandspit; personal memories of visits to Dad's Camp in the 1960s and research of Francesca Fryer.

In, 1989, Dorothy Williams Haberman discussions that her family ran the fishing resort, Dad's Camp, on the property. She comments that her family held possession of the property when California became a State.

This property has a rich spiritual tradition and cultural significance in the area. The property was deeded to John Shortman and his son Henry Williams in the early 1900s. Archaeological evidence suggests this land has been inhabited for at least 7000 years.

Interestingly, more recently, those enjoying bouldering have found that this beach area has numerous smooth basalt boulder, providing a challenge for the beginning to advanced levels for people enjoying the sport.

Currently, 4351 Klamath Beach Road will offer you the opportunity of unlimited potential. This is an absolutely magnificient, unspoiled beach. This is the "real Northern California," just 60 miles soult of the California/Oregon Border.

This property is co-listed with the McMonigle Group.
